Seeking a Steady Hand: Interim Manager
Colville Junction | Northern Coromandel | 12-Month Sabbatical Cover (part-time)
Are you an experienced leader looking for a meaningful "working sabbatical" of your own?
Do you have the skills to guide a vital community hub while enjoying the rugged beauty of
the Northern Coromandel?
Colville Junction (formerly CSSC) is the heart of the remote Northern Coromandel
Peninsula. We are a community-led development hub that provides everything from social
services and youth mentoring to environmental projects like our local nursery and predator
control. We are the "junction" where community needs and aspirations meet sustainable
solutions.

The Role
We are looking for an Interim Manager for a one-year fixed term. Your mission is simple but
critical: Maintain our momentum. As the current Manager takes a well-earned sabbatical,
we need someone to step into a high-trust environment and oversee our dedicated team of
staff and volunteers. You’ll be managing a diverse portfolio that includes:
● Operational Leadership: Keeping our community center, programmes and services
running smoothly, and maintaining a positive team culture.
● Compliance; Administration: Managing existing grants, meeting legal and
reporting expectations , ensuring long-term fiscal health, and working with the Board.
● Community Connection: Being the face of the Junction, building relationships with
local iwi, residents, and stakeholders.
● Strategic Stewardship: Implementing our Strategic; Delivery Plans.

Who You Are
Whether you’re a local leader or looking to relocate to our stunning corner of the world for a
year, you’ll bring:
● Management Grit: Experience in the NGO or community sector. You know how to
balance a budget and lead a team with empathy.
● Adaptability: You can shift from high-level strategic meetings to helping solve a
technical glitch in the community centre.
● Cultural Heart: A genuine commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the values of
Whanaungatanga and Manaakitanga.
● Communication Skills: The ability to represent our remote community to national
funders and local residents alike.

The Reward
This isn't just a job; it’s an invitation to be part of one of NZ’s most resilient and creative
communities. You’ll be based in Colville—a place where the bush meets the sea and
community spirit is a way of life.
